Jun Wang

Jun Wang is the James E. Ashton Professor in the College of Engineering and assistant director of the Iowa Technology Institute at the University of Iowa. His research focuses on the development of algorithms for remote sensing of fires and aerosols as well as applications of satellite products to improve observations and modeling of atmospheric composition, air quality, aerosol-cloud interaction, land-air interaction, and public health. He has authored 165+ research articles (H-index 51), co-edited two books, and supervised 15 MS, 10 Ph.D., and 10 postdoctoral scholars. He received a Ph.D. in atmospheric sciences from the University of Alabama–Huntsville in 2005 and the NOAA Climate and Global Change postdoctoral fellowship award at Harvard University in 2005-2007. He has been (or was) a science team member for ten NASA satellite missions.
